Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that employs techniques from many disciplines of martial arts, including kickboxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling and more. MMA bouts often include fighting in both the stand-up and ground positions, requiring practitioners to learn various aspects of striking, takedowns and grappling. Because of this, it is recommended that students have a strong basis in one or more combat sports and martial arts (Muay Thai, BJJ, etc.) before beginning MMA classes.
